At Abstrakt we strongly advocate personal professional development and encourage our team to get out of the studio and attend workshops, seminars, conferences and events as often as possible.

Whether it’s a local meet up such as Tech Nottingham, a regional conference such as New Adventures or a global event such as Dot All, these meetings of the mind give our team the opportunity to keep up to date with the latest thinking in their individual fields, stay on top of new trends, mix with their professional peers and gain valuable new perspectives.

In a regular year conferences are a plenty - if you’ve not seen it check out Nikki’s handpicked list of must visit European conferences - offering creatives, developers and digital marketers a solid excuse to leave their desk, jump on a train or plane and meet new people doing cool things.

Sadly, with the current global landscape all events planned for the Spring and Summer of 2020 have either been cancelled or postponed. But rather than missing the opportunity to gather together and share completely, the design community have made a swerve in direction and a number of digital conferences are now being announced, giving attendees the opportunity to stay inspired, share, discuss and collaborate, without leaving their living rooms.

New events are being announced all the time, but here’s our list of 2020 spring / summer design conferences that have gone remote and that are definitely worth checking in on. Our team definitely will be….

IAC: Information Architecture Conference

The leading global conference for information architecture, IAC attracts the industry’s leading thinkers in information architecture, user experience, and content strategy.

While the main program for the event, which was scheduled to take place in New Orleans on 14th - 18th April, went ahead, delivered by live streaming and real time interaction, there is a full schedule of keynotes, talks, workshops, and Q&As throughout April and May. You can buy a full event ticket or tickets for individual workshops - check out their full program to see what floats your boat.

UXLx: User Experience Design Lisbon

Renowned as THE place to go to learn about UX and to meet other fellow UXers from around the world, UXLx is one of the greatest, and certainly the biggest UX conference in Europe.

Running from 19th - 22nd May, UXLx is a 4 day extravaganza (over 60 hours worth) of intensive workshops and inspirational talks as well as great social activities (yes even online!). You can buy day tickets as well as full conference tickets so check out their program and get yourself booked on.

The UXR Collective presents the UXR 'Anywhere' conference on 25th and 26th June. The UXRConf provides leading UX researchers with a platform to share their knowledge with UXers globally.

This conference is for anyone committed to championing their users, surfacing better insights, and improving technology-based ecosystems. Tickets are for the full event, so you won't miss out on any of their 5 'tracks' of content.

Organised by the Bristol Usability Group CIC, UXBristol is a one day event all about UX design, running on 17th July.

A small, friendly, sociable conference with a 12 workshop line up, and celebrating its 10th year, this one is one to watch. The speaker line-up, schedule, and ticket details will be available in mid-May and tickets promise to be low (or no cost) - keep an eye on them on Twitter to see their line up as it's announced.

We'll continue to add new events as they are announced. Let us know of any others that are on your wish-list and we'll get them added too!
