We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious UX Designer to join our team.

We’re looking for someone to be an advocate for the user with the ability to design intuitive, engaging user-centric experiences. Ideally, you’ll have equal measures of design flair and UX knowledge to come up with solutions that are both creative AND usable.

Remit

To take a lead role in digital projects, ensuring excellence in UX and UI design. As a senior, you will take responsibility for all stages of the design process - from discovery and research to planning, UX strategy, UI execution, and final implementation. Your expertise will include equal measures of design flair and UX knowledge, ensuring that all digital experiences are user-focused, visually compelling, and strategically aligned with business goals.

Role

In this role, you will be responsible for leading digital design projects from conception to completion, ensuring the creation of high-quality, user-centric experiences. You will champion UX best practices, collaborate closely with developers and SEO’s, and ensure all digital products meet both business and user needs. Additionally, you will support the ongoing improvement of existing digital products, refining designs based on user feedback and analytics.

Responsibilities

As a Lead UX Designer, we expect you to own projects from start to finish, delivering on every aspect of the design workflow. We’re looking for a Digital Designer who’s comfortable using both sides of the brain. On one side - the logical website planner, the methodical UX researcher, the user-advocate. On the other - the digital creative, the detailed UI designer with creative flair…

  • Lead the UX and UI design process for digital products, ensuring user-friendly, engaging, accessible and visually compelling experiences
  • Confidently communicate your ideas and rationale when presenting design concepts to project teams and clients
  • Support the client services team to ensure  our digital design strategies align with stakeholder needs and expectations
  • Work collaboratively with other designers, developers, and project managers
  • Ability to balance technical constraints and business requirements with the needs of the customer (without compromising on design quality or experience)
  • Provide accurate time estimates based on design requirements to aid project planning
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, tools, and emerging technologies to continually enhance our design process

Left side of the brain

  • Planning and leading discovery workshops to ensure we have a thorough understanding of the project's purpose, objectives and needs
  • Conduct UX research in the form of website audits, competitor research and analysis of data, interviews and surveys to inform design decisions
  • Develop user personas, customer journey maps, sitemaps and information architecture
  • Create wireframes, and prototypes to guide (and stress test) the design process
  • Test and iterate on designs based on analytics, heatmaps, and user feedback and optimise user flows and site architecture to enhance usability and engagement

Right side of the brain

  • Interpret wireframe prototypes and turn them into highly usable, digital designs that meet brand and digital guidelines
  • Apply user-centred design principles to your design process
  • Excellent UI skills and attention to detail
  • Strong design flair to come up with highly creative solutions that are not templated
  • Design responsively to create mobile layouts that are easy to use and configured appropriately for small screens
  • Implement and refine design systems and UI component libraries

Technical Requirements

  • Proven experience as a UX/UI or digital designer with a strong portfolio showcasing user-centred design
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and/or appreciation for inclusive design
  • Strong knowledge of UX methodologies, usability principles, and user testing
  • Deep expertise in Figma
  • Experience in creating wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
  • Knowledge or interest in micro-interactions, movement, and animation that adds engagement and finesse to a digital solution
  • Understanding of front-end development concepts (coding skills are not required)
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms such as Craft CMS, WordPress and Shopify
  • Strong experience with design systems and component-based design
  • Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and their application in digital design
  • Ability to interpret and act on data from analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Hotjar, or similar
  • Knowledge of conversion rate optimisation (CRO) best practices
  • Experience collaborating in an agile digital environment
