Nottingham Business Improvement District (BID) is one of the largest BIDs in the country with over 700 members and is the force behind a number of successful initiatives such as Light Night, Halloween Trail and Nottingham Ale Trail – all of which have helped to create a vibrant range of experiences for the local community and beyond.
Its levy payers are businesses and organisations in the retail, leisure, office and education sectors within a defined area of Nottingham city centre – the BID Area.
After many missing out on the festive season last year, and the build-up that comes with it, Nottingham BID wanted to create a city-wide campaign that helped the people of Nottingham feel that festive spirit—a reminder of how magical the season is as families, friends and loved ones come together to celebrate.
We went to work with copywriting to create celebratory copy lines alongside the theme of “Discover the Magic of Christmas” which were connected to different areas around the city.
The messaging needed to shout about everything Nottingham has to offer, from the recently refurbished Castle, big high street brands in Victoria Centre and places like Hockley, Sneinton and numerous venues, great bars and restaurants and entertainment.
Modernising and reinvigorating a concept previously used by Nottingham BID, it visually represents the warm, magical sense that comes with the festive season—the twinkling of fairy lights, the warm, golden hue offset against the evening drawing in, with some assets offering a subtle background of notable locations around our city.
Creating just over 60 digital and print assets, the campaign covers online and offline channels, from social media to web banners, to bus advertising. All assets were made available to the Nottingham BID upon completion so that they could take the artwork and further edit with more messaging specific to the campaign.
The team at Abstrakt did an exceptional job delivering our Christmas campaign. From the initial brief taken to delivering the final artwork, Abstrakt liaised with the team at Nottingham BID throughout to ensure the work delivered was on message and within budget.
We are extremely happy with the end result and feel it stands out in promoting Nottingham for the festive period.
