On working with Abstrakt

Tell us a little about your business and your role.

I’m a marketing manager at GL events UK. We’re an events infrastructure business that supplies everything from complete event overlay, temporary structures and seating through to temporary power, HVAC, furniture and lighting for any type of event. We also provide construction services and permanent seating for stadiums across the UK.

I’ve worked here for almost two years and look after marketing for the Structures, Seating and Stadia business units. It’s a really varied role, with some great opportunities to get out on site and see behind the scenes at some of the UK’s  best known and well loved events.

You came into the rebuild project as it neared its end, so had to get up to speed quickly and hit the ground running with understanding the strategy and managing Craft. How did Abstrakt support you through this process?

It’s always a challenge to come into a project late in the day and get to grips with everything that’s been agreed previously! The Abstrakt team were really helpful though. The process had been well documented and kept up to date, the design elements were clear and easy to see and navigate through. When I had questions there was always an answer available and if I wanted to make changes to those decisions they were taken on board and added into the plan.  Regular calls and a team that were always quick to be on hand to answer questions played a key role in this.

How would you describe your overall experience of working with our team?

It’s a pleasure to work with the team. Nothing is ever too much trouble. No question is stupid! They’re always quick to respond and to give advice when it’s needed.

Do you feel that our team understands your needs and provides solutions that are aligned with your business (and role) goals?

Yes, absolutely. We work very closely with Lauren Irwin to optimise our organic search results and always get excellent suggestions. We’re seeing significant improvements to our rankings as a result.

Are there any specifics in our offering (account/project management,  strategy, UX , digital branding, SEO, development, etc), or even an individual team member’s support, that you particularly value?

As mentioned above, the information and advice we’ve had around improving SEO has been brilliant. We’ve also had some excellent analysis and feedback on UX and improvements we can make, which has had a positive impact for us.

Is there anything we could do better / more of to add more value or support you more fully?

No, I think the service and support we get from the Abstrakt team is great as it is!

On working with Craft CMS

We know you’ve worked with Craft before in a previous role, but not Craft 5? How have you found getting to grips with Craft 5?

Thankfully it’s been really easy. It’s very intuitive, especially compared to other platforms. Building new pages is simple using the page builder elements to add relevant modules and it’s easy to reposition elements on the page to make it look as good as possible and deliver a great user experience.

How would you rate the ease of use of Craft CMS for any non-technical users on your team? And are there any specific areas/features where Craft works particularly well for you?

It’s very easy. We have a new starter on the team who hasn’t used Craft before and  has picked it up quickly as it’s so user friendly. I particularly like being able to view changes as I make them and to alternate between the preview pane and a full page preview as needed.

Is there anything you would like to share about your experience with Craft to support others in considering Craft as a CMS?

I’ve used various CMS platforms and Craft is by far the easiest one to work with.

What would you say to someone considering working with Abstrakt?

Do it! They’re a great team and will help to deliver a site that meets your objectives, then work with you to make sure it continues to do so.
